12. How To: Baked Tea | Blogmas 2015

This year I came across this recipe and thought it sounded interesting. I have never tried baked tea before. I've seen it in the shops, but never quite made it myself. Usually I just make tea and chop some apples or oranges into it, which is yummy as well, but this seemed a bit more interesting.

Same as with the yesterday's recipe, I changed up few things according to my taste. As usual, I will explain it in the recipe.

Ingredients:

1 500g fruit (frozen or fresh)
juice from 1 lemon
500g caster sugar
(the recipe said 1000g, but that seems too much to me and half of that amount worked just fine!)
5 pieces of star anise (spice)
8 pieces of cloves
4 cinnamon sticks

How To:

1. Wash & chop the fruit. (You don't have to chop berries)
Also don't chop the fruit into very small pieces. They're going to get soft, you want fruit pieces, not a paste, ha-ha!

2. Put the fruit into a clean baking tray.

3. Pour the juice from one lemon onto the fruit. Add all the spices and cover it with sugar.

4. Preheat your oven to 170 degrees. Bake for approx. 45 minutes.
Don't forget to mix the fruit at least 2 times during baking, so all the flavours combine together.

When the tea is done, put it into jars, where you can store it. Remember to store it in the fridge (but let it cool down first!). You can store it for a week maximum in this form I'd say.

You don't have to sift it when you want to drink it as well. If you'd like you can take out the spices. Just put 3 teaspoons of the mixture into a mug, pour hot water over it and let it sit there for about 5 minutes as you would do with normal tea.

Again, I hope you enjoyed this post. Thank you for reading!
Love,
