How To: Churros with chocolate sause
Happy new year everybody! I hope you're having a great start. Mine was a bit rough, as I ended up with 39°C temperature, but I'm all good now! :)
What makes me sad is the fact that there's something wrong with our Internet, it is too slow to upload a video. Uploading takes hours and when it's just about done, it starts all over again. This makes me so frustrated, because I finally got back to filming and I have many video prepared. On Monday we'll be calling the Internet service, so I hope it will get fixed soon!
Because my body refused to eat everything, except of food that's liquid (my tonsils were swollen and infected), now that I'm finally back to eating normal, I'm starting to crave sweets as well. I've been on soups and water for a week, can you blame me? Ha-ha!
Because I prefer homemade desserts, I decided to make some churros.
If you don't know what these little guys are, they are basically fried pieces of dough dipped in sugar. It's considered a street food, therefore it's not the healthiest of course. And they are popular in many countries.
The recipe is very simple, they take few minutes to make and you can make them as long as you'd like.
Ingredients:
For the dough:
125g self-raising flour (plain flour + pinch of salt + 3 tbsp of baking powder)
125g plain flour
pinch of salt
2tbsp olive oil
400ml of boiling water
For the sauce:
200g dark chocolate
1tsp coffee (optional)
80g caster or granulated sugar
100ml double cream
50ml hot water
+ some granulated sugar to dip the churros in
+ some oil to fry them in
How To:
1. Heat some oil in a pan (enough to drop the churros in) or just heat it in a deep fryer if you have one
2. Mix all the dough ingredients together and put the dough into a piping bag
The dough is going to be very hot, because of the boiling water so let it cool for few minutes so you don't burn your hands while squeezing it into the oil
3. Once the oil is heated (you can put the end of a wooden spoon inside and it bubbles form around it, it's ready), squeeze the dough out of the piping bag into it.
Cut it with scissors, so you get shorter pieces. Don't make them too long, because they will most likely break or get stuck to each other.
4. Fry them for about 4 minutes until they are golden.
Once you take them out, immediately roll them in sugar.
5. To make the sauce just put all the ingredients into a bowl and heat in a microwave. Stir it and the sauce is done!
This was my second time making them. You can make them into a star shape as well if you'd like by changing the ending on your piping back. I tried it, but the dough was too thick to come through, so I just cut the end of the bag with scissors.
They turned out amazing, I'm so glad to be sharing this recipe with you, it's absolutely delicious. I got this recipe from Sorted food, so if you want to see it in a video form, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdILX2GNXPA
Once again, happy 2016 everyone, make the most of it! :)
