How to: Macaroni & Cheese
Hey there!
I'm a big fan of cooking and we have so many national meals and desserts that are great, but I'm always up for anything new. Therefore one of my favourite things about travelling or getting to know other countries in general is trying foreign food. The amount of possibilities when it comes to cooking is endless. That's the beauty of it.
I've been going through many American recipes recently. Because I live with my mom and she's always in work and I'm stuck in school, we usually look for meals that are quick, yet still yummy. I gotta admit, that this wouldn't usually catch my eye, but since it's so popular, I had to give it a go.
So here I present to you me, trying the famous 'Mac'n'Cheese'
Ingredients:
1 package of Pasta (for 4 portions)
1 Tbsp of Olive Oil
4 Tbsp of Butter
4 Tbsp of FlourSalt & Pepper
2 cups of Milk (warm)
3 cups of grated Cheese (you can mix different kinds)
1 cup of Bacon or Ham (cut into small dice)
How to:
1. Fry the bacon or ham with the olive oil in a pan until it's crispy.
2. In a large sauce pan or pot over medium heat, melt the butter and add the flour. Stir it for about a minute.
3. While stirring, add the milk and cook until it becomes thicker.
4. Take off the heat and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
5. Add the cheese and mix until it melts.
6. Mix with the pasta and bacon/ham.
You then just need to bake them for a little (10 mins approx.). You can sprinkle some grated cheese on top if you want them crispy. You can bake them in a ceramic or glass casserole dish... anything that can go into the oven basically.
I can honestly say it tastes sooo good. I love pasta so much and cheese sauces are my favourite. You don't have to add the bacon or ham, but I think it added a nice kick to it. It takes so little to make. I highly recommend this dish, if you've never had it before.
Love,
Bonnie. xoxo
